Q. WHAT SIZE CHEW DO I GET

A. In general, the size of the chew is based on the size of the dog. That being said, a small dog can have a big chew but we advise against a big dog having a small chew. The size of chew you get is also related to how quickly your dog goes through the chew. If they are more aggressive and consume it more quickly you can get them a bigger one that will last a little longer. It's hard to say exactly until you see them with their first antler chew.

Q. HOW LONG WILL AN AN ELK ANTLER DOG CHEW LAST

A. This is entirely up to your dog. Some dogs are much more aggressive chewers than others and this is the primary determining factor in how long the chew will last. We have some dogs that will chew it up overnight and others that will take months to play with it and chew every so often. As with any dog treat, some dogs like them more than others. You just need to give it to them and see what happens!

Q. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE CUTS

A. Our antlers are cut up and the size is determined by the weight. Our standard chews are cut into a round, several inch piece and then cut in half so the marrow is exposed. The exterior of an antler is a hard shell with the interior being much softer marrow. Just like a standard bone. In addition to a standard split, we also offer a full round option that has not been cut. These are great for dogs that are aggressive chewers (think...the ones that chew rocks!). Lastly, we offer an option for our senior dogs that have softer or old teeth. These have very little of the hard bone exterior and consist mainly of the soft inside marrow.

Q. ARE ANTLER CHEWS GOOD FOR MY DOG AND THEIR TEETH

A. We have found elk antlers to be great for a healthy, strong dogs teeth. According to the AKC, bones are a good source of minerals and other nutrients and help satisfy your dog's appetite. Chewing stimulates saliva enzymes and helps prevent plaque buildup on teeth and gum disease. Since antler is a bone we believe that yes...antler chews are great for your dog and their teeth!

Additionally, we LOVE elk antler dog chews for new puppies with those razor sharp teeth. They are great to help soften up those super sharp canine points.

*please remember to purchase the senior treats for aging dogs with softer or old teeth.
